How wonderful is God among his saints: come, let us adore him.
Universalis Antiphon
For Saint Monica and Her Blazing Prayers…
Through the moment’s quiet-
Simple
Interiors
The late summer
Light came,
Casting itself
Into beauty
Travailing
The stone walls
Of darkness:
And I don’t know
What better
Laud of praise,
Than this delicate
Dropping
Of light
Down the blue-
Honeyed throats
Of the morning
Glories,
Like coming to our
Knees
In a time
Of deep
Prayer.
Awe.

My goodness Cynthia, What a beautiful match of word to created beauty. That blue cries out the song of praise. +
ReplyDeleteCynthia,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love the look of the poem. Even before I read the words, I delighted in the pattern.
God bless!
Thank you Sue Elvis! The pattern was fun to write. It reminds me of the slanting light we are having this time of year and the morning glories vining. So glad you stopped by. God Bless.
