Litanies

You, Lord, are my praise in the great assembly.

I wake to altars of May
that lay in every budding's
mystic uncurling
through the green-hazed
morning's matins:
flowers opening litanies of Your light,

 cloisters of lavender lilacs,
fragrant crushes of violets,
 magnolia blossoms'
disheveled mantras
dropping with the daffodils'
 diminishing, clanging joy.

  1. I love the allusions to the spiritual life with altars, mystic, matins, litanies, cloisters, mantras. The clanging joy of the daffodils' is absolutely lovely for their blossoms are indeed festive bells. I love this sweet homage to God. It is a sweet song in praise of nature and of God and the relationship between. (With us poor humans in the middle!!). The "crushes of violets" is my absolute favorite. Blessings, friend!
