he is before all things,
and in him all things hold together.
Colossians 1 Universalis
The season's air has turned,
shifting the sinews
of evening light
long stretching
across the huddled
grasses
and ragged leaves;
the tilt of summer rattling
all that is parching
and pod,
the waning
and dark approaching:
as we also turn, in our poverty
and relation to dust,
in our deep navigation
toward the splendor of
You, Lord,
leaving behind
what is clenching
and diminishing,
moving upstream
by your grace
through the opposing
currents,
through the narrow locks
of love--
to life
in You.

ReplyDeleteCynthia, as always, your ability to control your metaphors impresses me. This is a fascinating piece - the turning, the light and dark, the dry and soaked, and the last stanza, especially full of truths. What a blessing!
