A Small Apprehending

O that today you would listen to his voice!‘Harden not your hearts.'

                                              Come, ring out our joy to the Lord;
hail the rock who saves us.
Let us come before him, giving thanks,
with songs let us hail the Lord.

                                              Come in; let us bow and bend low;
let us kneel before the God who made us:
for he is our God and we
the people who belong to his pasture,
the flock that is led by his hand.
                                                          Psalm 94:1-2,6-8    (Universalis)

Lord, You are the first light
weaving the looms of the hills.

                             You are every shade spilling
into the pails of the horizon.

You are this breath I am unwinding
and the one I am spooling in.

                             You are the embracing
                               and the releasing.

You are the bright green infusing
                               and the gray sleep reclining.

You are the pulse of ceaseless orbits
                               and the still center.

You are the spark whirling within every form
and what remains in their cessation.

                             You are the hand clasping
                               and the one letting go.

                             You are the hidden
and what sears in the light.

                             You are the other
                               and deep within.

You are the laying on of hands
                               and the lifting them.

                             You are the suffering
                               and the deep joy abounding.

                             You are divine peace
                               and the tearing division.

You are the terrible dying to free us from sin
and the rising again in glory.

                             You are the thirst
and the living water offering to us.

                             You are this love sustaining
what we name and what we cannot name.

You are this eternal singing steadying the universes
                              and the abiding silence between.

You are the last light easing

into the glistening pools of night.

                             You are all
                               and beyond all.

  1. Cynthia...this may be my favorite so far. It's so hard to choose! I love the painting as well!
The images in this one are so lovely: you are every shade spilling into the pails of the horizon...

What a gift you have! Thank you so much for sharing with us. And for painting HIM in such beauty.

  2. Thank you Patricia!! Your comments are so generous and kind...Our Lord is so beautiful and I do not, cannot do Him justice for sure! But I write what I see from this small perspective. So glad you stopped by...God Bless. (And I agree, the painting is magnificent.)
