Across the Far and Frozen

Monday of the Second Week of Lent

Praise and honor to you, Lord Jesus!
The seed is the word of God, Christ the sower;
whoever finds this seed will remain for ever.
Praise and honor to you, Lord Jesus!
Your words are spirit, Lord, and they are life;
you have the message of eternal life.
Praise and honor to you, Lord Jesus!
                                                           John 6:63,68

Today, the sun coming through and around the clouds: lavender and gray-bottomed, rimmed by iridescent ivory splitting the arch of luminous blaze. What seed awaits in what furrowed ground for the design of droplets sinking down
while rumors of spring spin and sound
throughout the tangling breezes?

Now, a clumsy walking over ice and snow
deep beneath the motions of the clouds;
in stillness move these vaporous thoughts
across the blue, blue skin of sky.

Waiting in the wilderness of silence;
the Lord’s speaking and immense play of light
across the far
and frozen
fields of our hearts.
