In your mercy, Lord,                                     
     dispel the darkness of this night.
Let your household sleep in peace
      so at the dawn of a new day
      they may, with joy, waken in your name.

Breathing in prayer

During the still

Sleeping hour

Before light stumbles forth

Bedecked in azure and

Studded night.

I am a blue shadow

Singing

At the feet of God,

Praising syllables of

Dust tones descending,

Where all is tending,

Tending towards

Bones chalky

Bright

Beneath

Our souls

Through vaults

Of night.
