The Ascension of the Lord
You kingdoms of the earth, sing to God;
praise the Lord, who ascends above the highest heavens;
his majesty and might are in the skies, alleluia. Psalm 68
"What does 'he ascended' mean except that he also descended into the lower regions of the earth? The one who descended is also the one who ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things."
Ephesians 4
"...why are you standing there looking at the sky? This Jesus who has bee taken up from you into haven will return in the same way as you have seen him going into heaven."
Act of the Apostles 1:11
How can I love today?
The first light over the lashes of morning and I am just awakening.
Here in this birdsong stillness I have netted my thoughts that come by.
I have settled into the field of solitude like a blue shadow to be with God.
I listen for love speaking in this sanctuary. For the heart, too, has its reasons, shifts perspectives while looking for the quiet truth; the vision of our dark unworthiness cradled in the arm of God’s mercy; this prayer of the heart beating unceasingly, descending into the still point, ascending to rest in Christ.
How can I love today?
